"Being a member of NFPW reinforces my belief in the need we all have to belong; to be able to connect because of shared experiences without necessarily having to always explain the ins and outs of the business. Inasmuch as I can't imagine my life not having been a journalist, likewise, I can't imagine my life had I not been a member of NFPW and Media Women of South Carolina." — Meg Hunt, South Carolina and former NFPW president
Membership in NFPW is a solid investment in your career, providing opportunities to develop your professional skills, receive recognition for your work, network with peers, protect the First Amendment, and nurture the next generation of communicators.
When you join NFPW, you also join the state affiliate (if available). Some affiliates require work samples to be submitted with the application. If your state doesn't have an NFPW affiliate, you may join as an at-large member.
See below for more good reasons to join and instructions for submitting your application.
Five For Four — Membership Savings Program
Member Recruitment Incentive: Five NFPW memberships for the price of four!
Companies can benefit too . . .
A company can pay for four memberships using one corporate check or credit card payment and get the fifth one free! Just send in the five membership applications with payment. No need to fill out the form mentioned to the left.
We offer five full NFPW memberships for the price of four full-paid ones in any calendar year.
To be eligible, the member who brings in four new members must submit the 5-for-4 Member Recruitment Form (doc/pdf) to NFPW, either by e-mail or snail mail. It must be signed by the member and the affiliate president. All the new members must join in one calendar year (Jan. 1-Dec. 31.) National and state affiliate dues must be paid for the four new members before the form is turned in. When NFPW verifies the form, it will register the fifth member from that state at no charge.
- Only full-time memberships are eligible. This does not apply to retirees or students, who pay lower membership fees.
- Members must be new. Previous NFPW members are not eligible unless they have not been members for at least five years.
Members can use this benefit any way they choose. They can offer a gift membership to a new member who is having tough financial times. They can offer it as a prize for excellent work in the contest. Or, the five people can share the prize, with each getting a few dollars off their regular membership.
We will also enter the name of any member who recruits 10 professional members into a drawing for free conference registration.
