NREL Tour Takes You Behind the Scenes

With so many U.S. research institutions, including national laboratories, facing sharp funding cuts, you might wonder what national labs actually do—and why their research matters. Now you have an opportunity to see for yourself. NFPW Conference Co-chair Karen Petersen has worked in the National Renewable Energy Laboratory’s Communications Office for 16 years, and she has arranged for an exclusive guided tour of NREL’s campus and labs on Thursday, Sept. 11 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

As a participant in this tour, you’ll discover firsthand why NREL’s campus and facilities are world-leading models of sustainability and high-performance building design. You’ll also see “Kestrel,” one of the most powerful supercomputers in the world, and learn how it’s helping NREL researchers solve some of society’s most complex and pressing problems faster.

NREL is just up the street from the conference hotel and will provide a shuttle bus to transport tour participants to and from the hotel. The tour is limited to 20 people, so don’t wait! Registration deadline is August 15.
